Compensation for the wrongful death of children and the elderly

No matter the age of an individual, it can be very shocking and life-changing when a family member dies. This is especially true if a loved one is suddenly taken away from you because of the negligent acts of another person. Whether it is a car accident, a slip-and-fall accident, medical malpractice, a work accident or any other accident caused by negligence, surviving family members are often able to collect compensation through a wrongful death lawsuit. This legal action not only helps with to recover compensation, but also helps with the application of liability on a negligent party.

Motorists are held to a high standard when driving in areas where pedestrians frequent. Motorists not only have a duty to drive safely, but also to yield to pedestrians crossing the road. The failure to do so could result in a serious pedestrian accident.

The rate of drunk driving accidents in the U.S.

Getting behind the wheel of a motor vehicle is a common activity, often done several times a day. While many drivers in Connecticut consider the risks and dangers associated with driving, most continue with this routine activity with little to no thoughts about risks because they follow the rules of the road. Although driving safely can help many drivers avoid automobile accidents, this unfortunately does not help them evade negligent drivers. And one of these negligent drivers is a drunk driver, and drunk driving accidents have the tendency to be tragic.

How dangerous is drowsy driving?

Many drivers get behind the wheel when they are exhausted, causing risks and dangers associated with fatigued driving. How dangerous is drowsy driving? It is recommended that we get an average of seven hours of sleep of night. When we lose one or two hours of sleep, this can double a motorist's risk of causing a car accident. Based on current findings, the odds of a car crash multiply by 4.3 times when a driver is running on four to five hours of sleep. When a driver is operating with less than four hours of sleep, this risk rises 11.5 times.
