Millions Recovered For Injured People

Wrongful death suit could follow Connecticut accident

For many young people, college is an important milestone. It often marks the first steps in preparing for the future as an independent adult. Recently in Connecticut, life was tragically cut short for one young woman after she became the victim of a horrible accident. As her family struggles to come to terms with their untimely loss, they may also be considering a wrongful death claim.

A 21-year-old Connecticut student was the victim of a hit-and-run accident that occurred in the Byram section of Greenwich. According to police reports, the victim was in a parking lot on William St. retrieving items from her car around 2 a.m. when she was struck by a sedan. The driver stopped for a moment before fleeing the scene, dragging the young woman beneath his car.

The victim was rushed to a local emergency room following the accident. She died as a result of her injuries. Police have released some details in the case in hopes that the public can provide more information. At this time, however, the driver remains at large.

Once located by the police, the suspect in this case will likely be facing multiple criminal charges. In addition, the victim's family may also elect to pursue a wrongful death lawsuit. Connecticut law allows the families of those killed as a result of another party's negligence to seek financial restitution for their losses. The emotional and financial stress placed on families after a tragic accident can be unbearable. A successfully litigated claim can help to ease their financial burdens and may even provide them with a sense of closure as they grieve their loved one.
