Millions Recovered For Injured People

Pedestrian accidents have multiple causes

Pedestrians in Connecticut are virtually unprotected against vehicles but can be harmed by other drivers for many different reasons. Reasons for accidents include a driver's being under the influence of drugs or alcohol, using one or more electronic devices while driving, being distracted by things like eating or changing the radio station, or simply disregarding traffic laws by speeding or ignoring traffic signs.

Pedestrian accidents are not caused only by vehicles. For example, the Connecticut Supreme Court recently ruled on an appeal in a wrongful death concerning a pedestrian who was killed by a flying log that slammed into him while a Connecticut state highway crew was cutting a tree down.

While the facts of a particular case are often unique, the harm caused can in most cases be long-lasting and painful. Physical disability, serious injuries, loss of work, rehabilitation, surgery, disability and other problems are often involved in these accidents. In more tragic cases, families lose a loved one. Moreover, these accidents also leave mental scars.

Obtaining proof of liability and damages often requires witness statements, documents, records and police reports. A distracted driving case may require cell phone records. A drunk driving case will most likely require blood alcohol content test results. Expert testimony may be needed to establish that a vehicle is defective or that traffic safety infrastructure was insufficient.
