Impaired drivers are a serious threat on Connecticut roads

A common misperception of drunk driving is that the driver must have a blood alcohol content above Connecticut's legal limit to pose a threat to other drivers or passengers. It is important to remember, especially during the revelry that accompanies this holiday season, that a driver may be impaired and dangerous after drinking any amount of alcohol.

The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, in fact, claims that even one drink may make a driver unfit. Not only can this impair driving, but any drinking can impede a motorist's decision to get behind the wheel at all. Using personal electronic devices or being fatigued can multiply this risk.

Drinking is not the only cause of impaired driving. Use of drugs, even legally-prescribed or over-the-counter medications, can threaten the safe operation of a vehicle.

Proving liability in an impaired driving case is not limited to finding a motorist who tested above the legal limit. It often requires obtaining evidence on the events proceeding the crash, whether a social host served a visibly-impaired guest or even whether a motorist followed the directions accompanying medications. This may include scientific and medical reports, expert testimony and eyewitness statements.

The attorneys in our firm have a combined 50 years of experience in seeking compensation and justice for victims of drunk or impaired drivers in Stamford, Norwalk, West Haven, Stratford, Fairfield and throughout Connecticut. Our lawyers work diligently to locate evidence and prove the damages that our clients and their families suffered at the hands of an impaired driver.

The damages caused by a drunk driving accident can have long-term and serious consequences on a victim's health and occupation. Families may suffer the loss of a loved one.
