Motor vehicles have become such a ubiquitous part of life that we often fail to identify their dangers until it is too late. This holds true for car drivers, truckers, bicyclists, motorcyclists and pedestrians. When one’s safety is endangered by a negligent driver and a car crash results, the outcome can be tragic. Victims can be left dead or with serious injuries, and the damages can be long-lasting and severe. In these instances, it might behoove a victim to seek legal counsel.

Take, for example, one recent incident involving a Connecticut man who was seriously hurt in a hit-and-run accident. According to state police, the wreck occurred on Interstate 95 where a man was watching his box truck get hooked up to a tow truck. At that time, a car swerved into the breakdown lane and struck the man. The driver of the errant vehicle then hit the tow truck and fled the scene. The police continue to search for the driver.

The victim was transported to the hospital with what have been identified as serious injuries. In collisions like this, where a pedestrian is without the structural protection and safety features of an automobile, broken bones, punctured lungs and traumatic brain injury are all highly possible. Recovering from such injuries can be painful and costly, as medical expenses and lost wages can take quite a toll.

Individuals in situations like this may find it in their best interest to look into the possibility of whether or not they can pursue a personal injury lawsuit against the negligent driver who harmed them. Of course, in a hit-and-run accident the drive must be caught first, but after the driver is identified a lawsuit may be filed against him or her. There are many legal issues that come into play in these matters, though, which means that having the assistance of a qualified legal professional may prove valuable.
