Millions Recovered For Injured People

Hit-and-run crash leaves Connecticut motorcyclist dead

Riding a motorcycle can be a great way to relieve stress, enjoy the outdoors, and save on fuel costs. Many Connecticut residents are taking advantage of the beautiful fall weather by taking to their bikes and hitting the road. As enjoyable as motorcycling can be, though, far too many motorists have motorcycle unawareness, which means they don't see motorcyclists when they should. Motorcyclists who operate their bikes near these negligent drivers can be at risk of being seriously harmed. Some are even killed.

Tragically, this was recently the case for one Connecticut motorcyclist. The 31-year-old man suffered severe injuries when he was struck by an SUV during the early morning hours. He later died at the hospital. Authorities say the SUV fled the scene and they continue to look for the driver. Surveillance video shows the vehicle and the damage caused to it. Police hope this information will enable them to find the driver with help from the public.

Losing a loved one in a fatal car accident can be utterly devastating. The emotional toll alone can be crushing, but many families also have to find a way to contend with unexpected medical expenses and funeral costs. Additionally, the sudden loss of a loved one can strip much-needed income from a family, rocking their finances. These damages can threaten a family's housing, utilities, transportation, utilities, food, clothing, and their credit. It may be difficult to think about these issues after the sudden passing of a loved one, but acting on a family's legal rights can be critical to recouping much-needed compensation.

In an instance of a hit-and-run accident, the first step is to find the driver. Once that driver is found, then a wrongful death lawsuit can be filed against him or her. If the driver is not found, it may still be possible to make a claim against the uninsured motorist coverage of the motorist's own insurance policy. An experienced attorney can help he family through the process.
