For many motorists in Connecticut, it is fairly common to come across an accident site while traveling on major roadways. While these are typically fender benders and minor collisions, some accidents can unfortunately involve multiple vehicles and have tragic aftermaths. A severe car accident does not only generate a massive accident site but also causes those involved to suffer fatal or serious injuries.

Motorists in New Haven were recently shocked by the unfolding events of a serious car crash occurring in the late night hours. According to recent reports, this accident involved three vehicles and occurred on Interstate 91 going northbound shortly after 2:30 a.m.

When authorities arrived at the scene, police reported that one of the vehicles was engulfed in flames. Police confirmed that one person was killed in the wreck while eight others suffered injuries. Three victims in a pickup truck and five victims in a SUV were all transported to the hospital for medical treatment for minor injuries.

It is not clear at this time how the accident occurred and investigation is still ongoing. Once completed, authorities should determine what driver or drivers were responsible for the crash. This information could help provide injured victims with evidence to help further a civil action.

A personal injury claim could help an injured victim hold a negligent driver accountable for a crash. It could also help the victim recover compensation for losses and damages suffered. This could help offset financial hardships caused from medical bills, lost wages and other related damages.
