Distracted driver behaviors are not improving despite regulations

Distracted driving is a known danger on the roads in Connecticut and throughout the nation. States are trying to find methods to discourage the practice from education to penalties. However, drivers are still using their smartphones when behind the wheel at a troublesome rate and it is causing accidents with serious injuries and fatalities. New information is constantly being accrued to determine the scope of the problem and a recent study from Zendrive shows that the level of distracted driving is far worse than previously thought.

Fatal workplace accident kills Connecticut landscaper

Connecticut workers who are employed in physical jobs with heavy equipment must make certain they take every precaution and ensure that they and others are safe as they go about their duties. This is especially true when there are different companies working on the same project. Accidents can lead to severe injuries and death. When there is a fatal workplace accident, the victim's family will have a right to answers as to how and why it happened. They will also have the right to seek compensation in a wrongful death legal filing for lost wages, pain and suffering and more.

What is discretionary wage differential in workers' compensation?

For Connecticut workers who are injured on the job, there are many issues that are covered by workers' compensation benefits. That includes the worker being paid, getting medical treatment and more. However, some workers will maximize their benefits, be able to get back to work in a different job than the one they had before, but are unable to find employment or to find employment that does not pay the same amount as the previous job. In such a case, it is possible to get Discretionary Wage Differential benefits. This is also known as "308" benefits.

Research shows danger of encountering a distracted driver rising

When out and about in Connecticut whether it is as a driver, a bicyclist, a pedestrian or in any other capacity, there are inherent dangers that must be considered. One that has become increasingly problematic is encountering a distracted driver. While legislators and law enforcement are seeking ways to reduce the danger of people being in a car accident due to a distracted driver, it still happens with troubling regularity.
