Motorcyclist ends up in hospital after collision in Connecticut

| May 20, 2020 | Car Accidents |

Driving a motorcycle is dangerous even at the best of times, which is why it’s so important for motorcyclists to pay attention to what’s happening around them. When a motorcyclist is hit, there’s a much higher chance that they’ll be hurt or killed compared to other passenger-vehicle drivers. This is especially true when more than one vehicle is involved.

Take for example this case out of Connecticut where a motorcyclist was injured after being hit by a vehicle. The motorcyclist was heading into an intersection when a 23-year-old woman turned into the motorcyclist’s path. This resulted in the man hitting the vehicle and going on to collide with two other parked cars.

After the crash, it was determined that the young driver had no injuries, but the 26-year-old male driver of the motorcycle was taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital with serious injuries. Fortunately, those injuries were not believed to be life-threatening. There is still an ongoing investigation into the collision, which the Bridgeport Police are handling.

Crashes like this one point out that turning into a motorcyclist’s path is still a major cause of collisions with motorcyclists. This is one of the most common kinds of crashes between motorcyclists and other drivers. Often, it’s a driver who is trying to turn left who crosses into the path of an oncoming motorcyclist, which gives them nowhere to go and can lead to a head-on or T-bone crash. Drivers need to pay attention and to look twice before pulling into an intersection or making a turn. Doing that could help prevent crashes like this one.
