Alcohol is not the only thing that can result in DUI charges. In fact, many people face charges for being impaired due to drugs or medications. Take for example this case in which a man was arrested for being under the influence when he caused a crash that resulted in multiple injuries. The man, 32, has now been charged with multiple crimes including possessing drug paraphernalia, possessing narcotics, driving under the influence and improper passing.
Unfortunately, the man was not caught before causing a serious collision, based on the police report. The police attended the scene after they received a report of a rollover collision. The 32-year-old man was accused of traveling south on Flanders Road and failing to stop for traffic. He collided with the tail end of a Mazda, forcing the vehicle off the road. The Mazda rolled. His own vehicle went off the road and onto an embankment.
The driver who reportedly caused the crash did show signs of impairment, the police stated, and he also suffered minor injuries. The driver of the Mazda was taken to the local L&M Hospital to receive medical attention.
Cases like this illustrate how easy it is to fall victim to someone who is under the influence, no matter how careful you are as a driver. If you’re ever involved in a crash like this one, remember that you can still pursue a claim. When another driver’s poor decisions cause you financial losses, those should be their responsibility to cover. You deserve fair compensation, and an attorney can help you obtain it.
